Sampling site is located north eastern place of Ulaanbaatar city, inside vicinity of “ger” district (Mongolian traditional dwellings which are heated by coal and wood burning). This is considered to be much polluted area because of coal combustion and smokes. During winter time, especially morning and evening there are covered by brown fog and acrid smoke from coal fires. This site is relatively high ground and heavily populated. We placed our PASs according to SOP and sampling tray was hanged 2m above ground and more than 5m distance from the one story building. We are assuming that the sources of mercury pollution are much more related to ger district area air pollution. Because ger district residents burn raw coal or anything else they can find to stay warm during the winter. In total, ger district homes burn approximately 660,000 tons of coal per year, averaging 4.5 tons per household. The combustion of raw coal makes up more than 60 percent of the microscopic dust or particulate matter in Ulaanbaatar air. Recent study revealed that coal combustion in ger district stoves, which contributes most to PM 2.5, emits most of its smoke during the ignition of the stoves. Ulaanbaatar’s ger districts, where more than 150 thousand households live, that are often the most affected by the city’s toxic air pollutants. The population of sampling site is belonged to Ulaanbaatar ger district area. There are more studies on particulate matters in ambient air and lead concentration in the blood of children. The results always higher than expectation. Mercury levels in the air of ger district where less studied.

The 2009 Urania cruise campaign was performed within the MED-OCEANOR framework.Intensive measurements were carried out along 4500 km cruise path aboard the R/V Urania from June 4 to July 2, 2009. Several monitoring stations have been selected in order to collect both water and sediment samples as well as vertical water profiles that have been performed at different depths. //Data are archived inside an indipendent data mart, which include the following fields: DATASOURCE (text): Identification of the data source (station, campaign, etc.) ELEV (numeric): Elevation of the measurement [m] VALUE (numeric): Value of the variable (see TARGET) UOM (text): Unit of measure of the measurement TSTAMP WITHOUT TIME ZONE (timestamp): Time Stamp of the measurement [yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm] LAT (numeric): Latitude [decimal degrees North, EPSG 4326] LON (numeric): Longitude [decimal degrees East, EPSG 4326] GMOSORIGIN (text): Name of the GMOS database TARGET (text): Observed variable (tgm, rgm, temp, etc.) GEOM (Geometry): Geometric characteristics of the point (coordinates and EPSG) ID (integer): Sequential universally unique identifier GMOS_DATASET (text): Name of the downloaded file
